Our new volunteer: Selim from Turkey!
Hello, I am Selim. I was born in Ankara, Turkey on 7 August 1992. My birthplace is the capital of our country. I finished my primary school and high school there. During the primary school, I played football and during the high school I continued with handball, wrestling and scouting.
When I graduated from high school, I started to work as an actor in child’s theatre. I worked there for a year and a quarter, then I went to the conservatoire to study opera. I studied opera there for 5 years and last year I went to Poland, Warsaw via Erasmus programme. During my bachelor study, I worked as a radio programmer and interviewer in Anadolu University’s Radio, Radyo A. Also, I worked in a search-and-rescue team for one year as a volunteer. With that team, we organised trekking activities, earthquake education for children and bicycle tours. After that, I started my MA in Anadolu University.
I choose to be volunteer because I think it is one of the ways of helping the people and changing the world starts by changing ourselves and our environment. When I saw the project of BG Be Active, I thought that I could be helpful in this project and learn many things. Also, I was excited about the city of Plovdiv. It is a very historical and a peaceful city; it also has many opportunities to be active. I thought my lifestyle would just fit to the city, and it happened just as I guessed.
